/me sighs.

Guess I'd better take the quiz, ne?

... I got Houston.

Twice.

Damn.

:\

goobie:

Houston is a lot like New York, only that New York is in New York, and Houston is in Texas. Also, you don't have the good parks in Houston - Central Park, Riverside Park, and of course, Boro Park. There's much more to be said in favour of New York. For example, lots of kosher restaurants, many of which serve meat. Also, I have found that most people want to live a healthy distance away from their parents. Advantage : New York. Furthermore, I am more likely to be found living in New York and not Houston.

Tee hee hee.

Re: goobie:

Couldn't we win the lottery in our old age and divide our time between Houston and New York?

Re: goobie:

I can't believe I just said that.

Re: goobie:

you're right. we could win the lottery now and divide our time.

Re: goobie:

Oh, feh, I suppose I could use *some* of my lottery winnings to fly you over. But most of them are going into savings. You never know. Besides, someday I want a freaking huge mansion. And a lot of Apples.

Re: goobie:

i'm suddenly reminded of a mishna in pirkei avos.

you can probably guess which.

mansions are a headache. i'd rather a simple apartment any day. If it were up to me, I'd rather the money go towards chinuch, scholarships for bochorim who wouldn't learn otherwise, and last but not least, creating a network of modern orthodox yeshivas so people like me wouldn't have to make the choice of suffering in a cultural black hole or not learning. if it would make you feel any better, each one of the Yeshiva Chaim Batshua yeshivas would have a computer room stocked with t-1 connected macs.

Re: goobie:

What about a small mansion?

Like, you know, with like 3 guest bedrooms or something. The idea is not to have a freaking huge house so much as a place that can comfortably accomodate several guests.

I'd definitely give tzedakah, too. I thought that was a given!
gordond From: gordond Date: le 09 juillet 2003 11:07 (UTC) (Lien)

Re: goobie:

never mind tzedakah. i'm talking about better than tzedakah.

yeshiva chaim batshua!

a small mansion would be okay. since the tachles would be for, ostensibly, having guests over for shabbos / yom tovim / kiruv :)
batshua From: batshua Date: le 09 juillet 2003 11:08 (UTC) (Lien)

Re: goobie:

Or hanging out.

But of course I'd have guests over.

Why "Chaim Batshua"?

If I was gonna found yeshivot, I think I'd name them after deceased relatives.

Re: goobie:

That sounds a little selfish of me, though.

Maybe if YOU donated the money.
gordond From: gordond Date: le 09 juillet 2003 11:33 (UTC) (Lien)

Re: goobie:
