What chance does a kosher chippy have in Los Angeles? I've been thinking that would be something possibly quite profitable to do. It's something that could perhaps blossom into a franchise if it works out well enough. Chippies don't have to have meat, do they? I mean, the principal apppeal is the fish & chips, right? They might have two things I have thought of just now - Worcestershire sauce spiced chips and tabasco sauce crisps. Eh? Anyone?

I woke up super late today. Quite embarassing. :(

On the plus side I have a dvd that has five 10 minute powerful workouts. One of them is targeted at the abdominal area, which is my problem area. Oh what a problem it is.

Total Recall was on at the Elliott Bay Brewery. That used to be one of my favourite films.

you could probably make it if you were in the right neighborhood.

Chippies are basically fish and chips - we have meat pies, battered sausages and fried chicken in them too - but you could either have kosher meats, or stick to fish. Sounds cool!

That's more or less what I was thinking. :) Mmmm.... battered bison sausage.

I'm not that up on the Kosher system, so can't really comment on that.

A Chippy is primarily about fish and chips, but often will include other items, from meat pies, burgers, and sausages.

Up in the Midlands there are all sorts of strange variations.

And Total Recall = great movie! :-)

Here's your basic breakdown on kashrus (keeping kosher).

Certain foods are an outright no - pork and monkfish are two that come right to mind when it comes to a chippy.

Dairy cannot be involved in any production that involves meat. One could not even sell pints of milk on the side if it is to be a kosher establishment.

Finally, fish and meat cannot be eaten together - seperately, yes, but not together. So classic Worcestershire sauce (or as my friend Allison would say, Worcester sauce) cannot be eaten with meat as it is made usually with fish.)
